The idea for Overtake was born somewhere between a cold, wet night shooting fireworks in the middle of the bay and a golden Florida sunset spent driving a car through a staged memorial on a school’s parking lot.
We didn't have much to make those films with. But what we did have was a community willing to embrace the ambitions of a group of young filmmakers in Florida’s Panhandle.
It didn’t take long for it to become something bigger than the films themselves. We were welcomed into their families, their businesses, and neighborhoods. We celebrated the communities that welcomed us in, by making films alongside them and naturally, they became part of the stories we were making.
